Leader Urges Iranians to Turn Revolution Anniversary Rallies Into Show of National Resolve

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on the Iranian nation to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution with mass participation, urging people to use the rallies on February 11 to demonstrate their will and resilience and to “disappoint the enemy.”

Describing the day as an annual unveiling of the Iranian nation’s power and dignity, Ayatollah Khamenei said the revolution represented a major victory in which Iranians succeeded in saving their country from foreign interference. He noted that, over the years, those foreign powers have continually sought to restore the pre-revolutionary order.

He said the presence of people in the streets on the anniversary serves as a clear signal, forcing back those who covet Iran, the Islamic Republic, and the interests of the Iranian people.

According to the Leader, national power is rooted less in military hardware such as missiles and aircraft than in the will, determination, and steadfastness of nations. He said the Iranian people have already demonstrated this resolve and called on them to do so once again.

“Disappoint the enemy,” he stressed, adding that as long as an adversary remains hopeful, a nation remains vulnerable to pressure and harm.

Ayatollah Khamenei explained that frustrating the enemy stems from national unity, strength of thought and will, and resistance to external temptations, elements which together constitute true national power.

Expressing hope for this year’s anniversary, he said he expected the upcoming rallies, like those of previous years, to further enhance the grandeur of the Iranian nation and compel other nations, governments, and powers to show deference in the face of Iran’s resolve.
