An Iranian trade delegation led by Hossein Pir-Moazen, vice president of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, has left for Tashkent to deepen agricultural and food trade with Uzbekistan. The group includes provincial chamber heads, specialized committee chairs, association leaders, and food and agriculture businesses, traveling alongside Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh.
An Iran-Uzbekistan Economic-Agricultural Conference will anchor the visit. Talks will cover livestock, poultry, aquaculture and feed; field, horticultural and greenhouse products; and agricultural machinery, processing industries, and technical-engineering services. Agriculture ministers from both countries and Pir-Moazen will speak, followed by direct meetings between Uzbek firms and Iranian delegates.
The two chambers of commerce are expected to sign a cooperation memorandum. Several other MoUs and contracts between Iranian and Uzbek companies are also planned.
Beyond the conference, delegates will visit farms, agri-industrial units, and processing facilities across Uzbekistan to assess the country’s food and agricultural capacity. For Iran, the trip supports efforts to expand non-oil trade in Central Asia. Agriculture offers a practical entry point: machinery, greenhouse produce, processed foods, and technical services can be exchanged for farm commodities. The test will be whether the visit produces concrete deals, not just signed intentions.
