Acting Oil Minister Hamid Bovard has called for the petrochemical industry to play a bigger role in job creation, output and national income, saying its untapped capacities can help strengthen the economy.
At a meeting with National Petrochemical Company managers, Bovard stressed that the company’s regulatory and governance role must be reinforced and pursued seriously across all areas. He pledged full support for that effort.
Bovard said market conditions, product prices and supply mechanisms need careful coordination with other sectors to make better use of the industry’s potential. Petrochemicals, he noted, are not only export earners but also vital inputs for downstream industries that produce everyday goods. He also called for greater attention to the sector’s development, citing its significant economic and social impact.
He urged the industry to help develop oil and gas fields to secure sustainable feedstock. Export continuity and foreign-currency earnings must also be preserved, with revenues returning to the economy, he said. Reconstruction of war-damaged petrochemical units should be accelerated, he added.
Praising managers and staff, Bovard said the sector’s combined experience and expertise should be mobilized with renewed motivation to meet national goals.
